PhD in Information and Communications Technology

Academic year 2024-25

Interdisciplinary and specific educational activities

PhD studies foresee a number of cross-cutting and specific activities. In general, the thesis supervisor(s) or tutor shall be responsible for incorporating the assessment or successful completion (pass/fail) of these activities into the doctorand activities document.

Cross-cutting activities:

  • Communication Skills in English: Written and Oral Expression (Module I)
  • Communication Skills in English: Written and Oral Expression (Module II)
  • Ethics and Integrity in Scientific Research

Specific activities:

  • State-of-the-Art Review of a Research Topic (I1)
  • Technology Transfer Models (I2)
  • Research Seminars (I3)
  • Preparing and Presenting Scientific Papers (I4)
  • Research Stays at Overseas Centres (I5)

Students enrolled before the 2015/16 academic year must accredit 60h from cross-cutting activities (preferably in the first year, for full-time students; in the first and second year, for part-time students), as well as activity l2. These activities are elective for students who enrolled on the 2015-16 or later academic years. Activities I1, I3 and I4 are always mandatory, whereas activity I5 is elective (in line with the doctorand's criteria and availability).
