The PhD in Applied Economics aims to train researchers with solid knowledge of economic theory, quantitative methods and methodological tools to enable them to produce original high-quality research into applied economics.
The programme covers a wide range of research areas with the support of top-quality academics. In addition to members of the department, some renowned international lecturers and professors participate in the teaching and supervision of the programme.
What skills will you acquire?
To develop original high-quality research in applied economics in the fields of Tourism Economics, Environmental Economics, Public Economics and Econometrics.
What career opportunities will you have?
Based on experience over the years, we can confidently state that the main professional opportunities lie firstly in academe. A high number of programme graduates are currently working as lecturers and researchers at different research institutes and universities in Spain and overseas.
Secondly, many programme graduates work in different areas of public administration and at public or private organisations in Spain and overseas, undertaking research activities and specialised consultancy.

High-quality official study
Legislation requires that official Spanish degree programmes receive a positive assessment from the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA, by its Spanish acronym). This process is known as verification, and it serves to ensure that education programmes are properly designed to provide the competencies and reach the learning goals around which the programmes are built.
The European Higher Education Area requires that there be a system in place to ensure the quality of degree programmes.
