The student will learn how to study the behaviour of plants and their response to changes and environmental stress (including those induced by global warming), and plant-environment interactions both in regards to flora, natural distribution and interactions with other organisms, and to the physiological and molecular domains.

They will also learn research techniques and approaches applied to the study of plants, ecophysiology, ecology and botany which will enable them to undertake their PhD thesis. First and foremost, they will learn to identify the consequences of environmental, climatic and edaphic limitations on the biology of plants, and the relevance of such limitations in the production of crops as well as in the evolution of natural populations.
