Programme description

Admission criteria

The most appropriate profiles for the Doctoral Thesis in Chemistry Science and Technology are:

  • DEA (Diploma in Advanced Studies) in Chemistry
  • Having completed a minimum 300 credits on Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies, at least 60 from official Postgraduate programmes

Candidates will send pre-enrolment application via internet or in person to the head of postgraduate administrative services which will be assessed by the Department Committee for possible acceptance.

Student doctorate admission will be carried out in the Department Council, with confirmation from the Thesis supervisor.

Candidates not in any of the above situations may apply for pre-enrolment which will be assessed by the Postgraduate Academic Committee.

Thesis evaluation criteria

Overall Objectives

This course aims to train top-flight graduates in science and technology with abilities, skills and competences allowing them to satisfactorily join national and international R&D&i systems. The training will be multidisciplinary and, more specifically, in scientific fields related to environmental chemistry, laboratory automation, materials science, biological chemistry, biomedicine and bio-health, supramolecular organic chemistry or food engineering.

In this sense, UIB Doctorate graduates will be able to:

  • Effectively join any R&D&i team in the Science and Chemical Technology area.
  • Plan and perform R&D&i projects in the Science and Chemical Technology area, especially in the areas stated above.
  • Provide expert advice on R&D&i issues to public and private institutions so requiring it in these fields.

The present doctorate was awarded a quality label from the ANECA (National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation) (Ref.: MEE2011-0120 BOE-253 - 20/10/2011 - 16518)

Programme structure

The title of Doctor by the Universitat de les Illes Balears in Chemistry Science and Technology is attained by producing a Doctoral Thesis, without scheduled doctorate course, since in order to access the title students must hold a 60-credit official science Masters title from the UIB. See the " Administrative Procedures and Other Useful Information " section Specifically, see the Master’s Degree in Chemistry Science and Technology in paragraph " Subjects ", which offers a total of 110 structured credits on the courses set out below.
